I love baked apples, but they usually contain crazy amounts of sugar. That’s why I decided to develop my own Baked Apple recipe – clean-eating compliant and minus all that sugar.

I already shared this recipe on Facebook this morning, but since I didn’t want it to be sucked into the Internet void after just one day, I’m posting it again for you here. Enjoy! :-)

Recipe: Baked Apples with Vanilla Sauce {Clean Eating and Sugar-Free

  • 2 apples
  • 20 g raisins
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 4 tbsp almond butter* white
  • 400 ml almond milk*
  • 1 generous pinch ground vanilla* or 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 20 g cornstarch
  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (top and bottom heat). Wash and dry the apples and cut off the “lids.”
  2. Remove seeds and cores from apples with a spoon or apple corer.
  3. Combine raisins and sliced almonds with almond butter. Fill apples with raisin-almond mixture. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
  4. Make the vanilla sauce: whisk together almond milk, cornstarch, and vanilla. Pour mixture into a saucepan, bring to a boil, and simmer for about 10 minutes on medium heat, stirring continuously.
  5. Serve baked apples with vanilla sauce.
