On our recent road trip through California, Arizona, and Nevada we made a stop in Encinitas, California a small coastal city between Los Angeles and San Diego that counts as one of the best surf spots on the planet.

And right in the middle of the city are the Self-Realization Fellowship Hermitage & Meditation Gardens – one of the most beautiful gardens I’d ever seen! There’s a gorgeous view over the Pacific and an incredible variety of plants; what’s more, the silence was so soothing and healing (we’d just come from noisy LA, after all).

If you’re ever in the area, check it out – it’s magical!

Actually, I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves:

Address:

Self-Realization Fellowship Hermitage & Meditation Gardens
215 W K St.
Encinitas, CA 92024

Please note that the garden is officially closed on Mondays. And guess which day we happened to be there? Fortunately, we got them to let us in anyway, since we’d come from so far away – but it does require some negotiation skills with the security staff! ;-)
