Strawberry season is upon us! I don’t know about you guys, but I could live solely off sun-sweetened strawberries all summer long. I rarely eat jam, but I do enjoy it every now and then. Recently, I came across an agave-based jam at the local organic supermarket and was pleased that there’s an alternative to “normal” white-sugar jams – but an even better option is this sugar-free jam gelled with chia seeds. There’s only two ingredients and no added sweetener whatsoever! And it’s so simple to prepare: it’s just like making super-easy Chia Pudding.

You can sweeten the jam with 1–2 tablespoons of sweetener (e.g. coconut blossom sugar), but keep in mind that the fruit is pretty sweet on its own! Spices such as vanilla and cinnamon can also be added, if desired.

This jam is great on bread, of course, but also on pancakes, in Overnight Oats, or stirred into yogurt. The recipe here only makes a small amount, since chia jam keeps for just one week in the fridge (that is, nowhere near as long as conventional jams). If you want to keep your chia jam fresh longer, trying freezing it – learn more here.

Try making chia jam with different fruits: Cherry Chia Jam, for example, is another one of my favorites.

Enjoy! :-)
